GoClear is a specialist product that helps to protect the environment by reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides from diesel vehicles. It is manufactured by Ballance at the company's ammonia-urea plant at Kapuni, in the Taranaki. GoClear is a clear, colourless liquid that is injected into the exhaust system of diesel vehicles, where it converts nitrogen oxides into two harmless substances - water vapour and nitrogen gas.
Over the last decade there has been a growing global trend to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from heavy diesel vehicles, largely led by the European Union (EU). The EU's minimum standards of acceptable emission levels have been steadily lowered, and to meet these criteria, engine manufacturers have had to introduce new technology to reduce vehicle emissions. Two types of technology can achieve this - selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (ERG). Of these, the most frequently used is the SCR technology, which has been adopted by major engine manufacturers.
From 1 January 2011 all new and used trucks coming into New Zealand must meet Euro 5 Emission Standards. If bigger trucks are to meet this standard, they will have to use SCR technology. Until the end of 2010, all new and used trucks imported into New Zealand must meet Euro 4 Emission Standards. This can be achieved through the use of SCR technology.
Purity and quality are key features of GoClear. The Ballance manufacturing process includes a number of stringent measures to ensure that GoClear is produced to guaranteed quality criteria, Ballance has invested in specialised plant, including ion-exchange resin beds and 1-micron filters, to maintain product quality at all stages of production.
GoClear is manufactured with ultra-pure deionised water and high-grade liquid urea, and complies with ISO 22241, to help ensure that your vehicle performs at its best.
